Sounds more like a post about hyprland than wayland to be honest. Author would not like his experience on windowmaker or XFCE on x11 much better if I understand his griefs.
WindowMaker and XFCE on X11 both support mouse based copy/paste. The wine/systray issue would be present on Sway and most other tiling wayland composers. Also the requirement to have a daemon to handle wallpaper is present on all Wayland composers too (I used wpaperd last time I tried Wayland).
Very few of his issues have anything to do with Hyprland. They're almost all problems directly with Wayland composers ... all of them.
I can copy/paste with my mouse on Gnome on wayland right now. I am not sure requiring a daemon is a downside when X11...requires running an xorg server!
