I’m one of those people you describe, but never tried applying for dev jobs because of the very thing you’re describing about your colleagues.

This gives me hope that there are non-bright developers and I should just apply :]



To a certain extent as long as you recognize your limitations you can brute force the additional iteration required to expand or verify your output to match that of someone with a larger mental context window / parallel processing capacity.

You can use tools and external logging / notes to expand your workflow as needed.

The real danger is when you don't know what you don't know and think you're done prematurely / in an error state.
