Am I giving him too much credit? i.e. Make people dislike him even more and then let the people of Twitter think they are voting him out?

Yes this is giving him too much credit, seeing what we see as his first hand actions.

Before he learns to play 3D or 4D chess, he needs to learn to play regular chess.
