I'm curious of what was the original reasoning behind banning virtual hugs in the first place. It sounds too specific to have been done arbitrarily. I wonder if a specific incident somewhat related to hugs happened on an old thread that caused the whole thing to get banned.
The reason for the rule being in the Geek Feminism example policy may have been an inciting incident, but likely not one that occurred in the FreeBSD community specifically given it predates the freebsd discussion.
