I've had no such issues with Jack, but it's still much fiddlier to set up than win/Mac. PulseAudio's very existence is absolutely infuriating - they had a chance to build something like CoreAudio that could handle both desktop and pro needs, with RH's backing to get support into client toolkits, and they couldn't be bothered.
