Why would you guess Chinese? Broadcom, Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Realtek are the typical answers for radio chips, no? None of whom are Chinese? There certainly are Chinese radio chips, such as from Espressif or Huawei, but they aren't especially popular in APs or anything
The majority of their foundries are in Taiwan and South Korea which, to avoid politics, is outside what most people mean when they worry about tech made in China (they think about the PRC).
So not China unless you’re being pedantic and pretending when people say they are avoiding China they doin don’t mean the mainland governed by the communist party.
Yeah, Discord not going into competition with Slack or Teams has been an own-goal that I've been baffled by for years. Given that Slack apparently thinks their incredibly subpar offering is worth $200k a year, I can't imagine why Discord wouldn't roll out a "We'll run a standalone instance of Discord with your information siloed and DMs retained for legal purposes, with full Nitro/Boost perks for $ALOTOFMONEY/user" version of their software.
It's quite fortuitous Discord never went down this path you've outlined. "Concord" is now a term synonymous with abject and astounding failure. "Unity" is also taken and fraught with negative associations. "Harmony" might be free.
yep tech is a truly revolutionary industry - it goes in circles. Once you seen the same BS cycle happen a few times it's real hard to not become jaded.
Honestly I have so many issues getting notifications on Slack. Messages go completely missed even when I have the user VIP'd, starred, notifications on, everything. I don't know what else I can do to make sure I get messages, to the point I ask people to reach out on Signal if I don't get back to them on Slack and it's at all urgent.
I am a software engineer with over 6 years of experience building web applications.
Since my first website at 10 on GeoCities, I've gone on to work on Minecraft custom servers, MMORPGs, web application used by millions, and led volunteer teams to deliver IT services powering a homeless shelter network every Christmas.
I enjoy being "the glue" to IT projects, working across disciplines to ensure they get delivered on time, meet budget and satisfy users. I specialise in modernising legacy applications using modern technologies and frameworks, and have created greenfield applications from scratch.
I speak PHP, Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, and have worked with frameworks like Next.js and FastAPI. My current obsession is headless CMSes (PayloadCMS gets my vote).
Does anybody have Vercel's mailing address? I would like to send them a "Have a good day at school!" card for this issue, which will be old enough to attend elementary school next year: https://github.com/vercel/next.js/issues/10084

I prefer full-stack development on the web but can also specialise into backend / frontend and other disciplines as needed.
