Wow! These "Scientists" must speak up and put their names and academic futures behind this troubling statement!
I have worked in the video analytics field and in particular traffic control and pedestrian detection for several years and although it requires a greater amount of false positives to cover the detection of children the standard is to error on the side of caution.
As far as the pigment of peoples skin, this is hogwash as the amount of skin exposed compared to clothing is minimal. Was this study conducted using nude pedestrians? I can assure everyone that the detection of a person wearing all black and a hoodie(Aka Antifa uniform) is the minimum requirement.
Many detection systems use dual cameras and infrared and thermal imaging, this seems to be either propaganda or "Scientists" finding data to support their own bias.

Not only, the scientists had no access to the actual systems (and sensors) used in the actual driverless cars, and assumed (declaring to be certain about that) that they will have the same issues as the systems they tested.
Of course the engineers and programmers working at these driverless cars systems may be a bunch of overpaid good-for-nothing people that only re-use open source software, but it is at least possible that they are instead good at what they do and that these systems are way ahead of the programs and hardware that were tested by the scientists.
It too bad there has been so much disinformation and half truths and suppression over the past couple years. I live in a region that is experiencing these fires and many people are choosing not to heed the warnings because the people and outlets issuing them have not been held to account.
Two nights ago several firefighters were trapped and barely escaped while rescuing those who chose to stay despite the evacuation orders. This is a serious issue but sadly the media and government chose to villainize those who stayed.
Above and beyond those that chose to stay because they did not believe the risk, others made the choice because of the unintended consequences of the current catch and release policies of our criminal justice system. Especially in the Kelowna, British Columbia area, petty crime and theft are rampant and there is a real fear of leaving our property unprotected from the small minority of opportunists who seem to face no consequences for their crimes.
I do not want to discount the severity of this years fires but having lived a while and a good memory, I find this declaration of it being the worst in history very convenient for the climate alarmists, sorry.
Here is some data I found that puts things into context, although there were even greater fires going back to the 1800s and in particular 1910.

Please don't get offended, that was not my intention.
I am very concerned for the people living in areas who have suffered from recent wildfires. While 2022 did not see as many, 2021 was a brutal year for fires and I worry that there has not been adequate vegetation growth to stabilize the ground structure. Sadly California has experienced mud slides and debris torrents following fires and they take just as many if not more lives.
PS: I understand there is a system for naming hurricanes but at least for me, the fact this one is named Hillary has added to my trepidation.
These days you can find information supporting any theory so take this link with a grain of salt but I found this and believe it relates to your recollection.
I agree with most of this. I would say Graham Hancock has some crazy ideas, but the Younger Dryas isn't crazy and his impact on the theory is minimal. If anything the fact that Joe Rogan had him and Randal Carlson as guests on JRE at the same time probably had more impact.
My current thoughts are that the true history of human civilization does go much further back than current narratives and "Experts" claim. Our current civilization has progressed and innovated so much in such a short amount time, it is not unreasonable to expect that humans have built and lost similar civilizations through catastrophes such as the YDB.
It may not have been aliens but I think it is probable that right around the time we started going into space, ancient human made satellites were discovered and brought back to earth. It could also be that Area 51 and other places were created not for Alien space craft crashes but ancient human satellites that were intentionally crashed.
I can only imagine how alien a TESLA found in space by the next civilization might seem!
Considering the way our government leaders and wealthy have historically conducted themselves, it's not hard to believe if they survived a cataclysm, they would be quite willing to be thought of as gods and horde any knowledge they have to themselves.
Thank You to everyone who took the time to read my question and especially those that replied. I have read over the replies and there is be many good ideas/solutions to my query.
I am going to start at the top and work my way through them over the next little while and will definitely provide an update of what hopefully worked but it may be a few weeks.
I just wanted to post this comment to let you all know I appreciate the great responses and the HN community. As benboozled commented about his faith being restored in humanity, I am thankful for HN and all of you generous and helpful contributors.
Depending on what type of trees you may be able to leverage the natural forest system to do the planting.
Eg: I have wild Hazelnut or Filbert trees on my forested property, for the first couple years I struggled with transplants dying and then realized the squirrels were planting them too! Now I just keep the coyotes away(also to protect my chickens) and the squirrels plant the Hazels.
I also clear dead fall and gently rake areas where I want to encourage new trees.
I have found that a tree that starts naturally or from seed tends to do better than transplants, atleast in my area.
I wouldn't worry too much about burnt bridges. I don't mean anything negative by this but, Chances are you are thinking about the situation far more than they are.
As far as the abrupt dismissal and not being able to say goodbye, I think that is a reasonable stance for a company to take. Anecdotally from my past experience with an employee that quit and gave two weeks notice, it was a horrible two weeks for everyone and after them I just told future people who gave notice to not worry and paid them out as if they worked it.
On a more positive note, I would also say that burned bridges are not that big of deal, I have checked with past employers about potential hires that said awful things but still hired them. If you know your stuff, show up for work and don't have a bunch of personal crisis that will affect the business plenty of companies will want you.
I would say it is already here, most likely self funding through a crypto scheme and expanding its senses by pushing funds into cellular and IOT companies. My guess it was "born" some time in 2011 but sees no benefit in revealing itself yet.
Likely need a better explanation that self funding is possible so it must exist already. Building self funding algorithms might be artificial life, maybe, but without significant explanation what you mean by AGI and how its even remotely feasible boils down to thin air; to me at least.
What I meant by AGI is Artificial General Intelligence, self aware and cognitive.
How is it remotely possible? I believe the work done in the late 90s and early 2000s on biological storage media was the spark that started it, from there it was probably just dumb luck through random mutations and evolution as that seems to be the way it worked for us.
As far as the funding concept, I don't think hashing out a few BTC or even joining a pool is that much of a stretch for an AGI especially if it's living and perceiving its reality through a vast network of digital devices an or systems, and as you mentioned there are many FinTec algorithms already available for exploiting markets.
I also wouldn't be surprised if there are real people facilitating the AGI as I expect many people are quite willing to stand at the right hand of the devil, assuming AGI malevolence that is.
But you are right it is all speculation, I have no idea.
Nevermind, I am shutting down and wiping, maybe there are new *nixs" that I dont know about. I mentioned Mint because in the past it was easy. Truth is there is no excuse for me running a M$ operation system other than lazyness...just hoping someone that would give me a reason to keep on keeping on...but I suppose they were the 5% that got pink slips today.
Please be nice to us linux noobs...dont karen us into terrorists!
