While there is a critical need for better racial diversity at the schools, to try to 'fix' the problem at the 8th grade level (when it's usually too late) not only seems like a pure PR play, but it also hurts the thousands of sacrificing low income students who are currently getting accepted into these schools.
Civil rights in this country needs a disruptive reboot.
Funny you ask this here. In 2012, 1 in 4 Y combinator starts up broke apart due to founder disagreement. You can bet a large part of that was due to equity distribution issues. Equity issues can get really messy - and easily damage friendships.
