This is what I do. Pandoc to convert the markdown files into standalone HTML files. I use a custom HTML template to style the page a bit and add meta tags etc.
This is a bit disingenuous. They now market themselves as the creators of Reddit, or its owners, which is not true. They employed its creator for a while, but that's all.
It would've been much better for Redis's long term health to have the logo and name trademarks transferred to a non-profit steering organisation managed by the steering council so that not a single entity controls it.
This will make it more difficult for competition to enter the market. People will assume that "Redis" is somehow the same as Redis the software.
This is exactly the purpose of trademark law. I believe Redis (this company) purchased the trademark from antirez. Whatever compensation he received for it was specifically so this company could call themselves and their product Redis.
I am not sure what appealing alternative you could offer. I didn't have a car up until recently. I got one because I had a kid. Even though I live in a small European city [0] (400k inhabitants) with bus lines everywhere, taxi's that are dirt cheap etc.
It's impossible with a kid. I tried for the first few months. I don't have time to wait for the bus for 10 minutes with a screaming baby, neither do I want to stress that the entire bus or train needs to listen to my crying baby for the ride. Taking the kid to the doctor halfway across town is just a nightmare with any of the alternative modes of transport.
Give me a good alternative for taking a screaming baby to the doctor without pissing off everyone and I'll happily get rid of the car.
> Taking the kid to the doctor halfway across town
I live in a similar sized European city, and the one good thing the Soviets did here was to make sure services are available nearby to where people live.
I have a friend who has two toddlers, and when they need to go across the city they have no issues going by bus. If someone get pissed off because there is young human who is not mature at controlling (or more likely supressing) their emotions, that's their own problem.
Almost all of the services they need are nearby though. During the winter lockdowns they didn't need to leave their district for 4 months.
Even without a kid, a car is almost always the best way to travel. If we lived in an ideal world with unlimited space and resources, everybody would be driving a car. Only restrictions due to population density or political incentives may create situations where one might prefer traveling by some other mode.
I looked at your landing page and I don't know how it's different from its competitors except that it lacks features that your competitors have. Why should I choose it over Pingdom for example?
Currently, the main difference is the simplicity that I offer in my app, simple and easy to start monitoring without difficulty, but as you said I don't have enough features to compete with others
Really? I moved from the Netherlands to Romania a few years ago and all I had to do was register for residency at the immigration services. That took about 15 minutes. I opened a bank account the same day. Healthcare was also easy once I was employed.
You can survive, but most online services depend on the availability of a fiscal number, which sometimes takes ages to come especially if you are not employed. Once you're in the system everything becomes smoother.
An EU-wide system would be absolutely great for those coming to live here from other EU countries.
Compared to what? That’s shorter than many voting lines in last US election. Shorter than waiting for an unscheduled bus in many countries. I agree it’s longer than I’d like but it’s all perspective.
Compared to everything? I don't think I've waited anywhere for more than an hour in my life. Maybe a ride in an amusement park or in traffic, but that would be it. Certainly not to vote or get a shot.
