I rented my spot out for a week in SF. It was easy and casual and I made a couple hundred bucks. It turned out this girl from NY was pretty cool too, tho I was prepared to ignore her if she wasn't. I wasn't expecting much. Had tried CouchSurfing. I just saw it as a step above CouchSurfing with an exchange of money. Which is pretty much what it was. Perfect for both our needs. I'd def try being the renter next time I head out of town.

Judging by the positive sentiment in these comments for TWIST and Launch - and AOL's acquisition of TechCrunch (Read: Once MA jumps, they won't be able to sustain content and traffic) - there may be a lot of good opportunities ahead for JC.

There's a recent story in the New York Times about this, and a business called DecorMyEyes: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/28/business/28borker.html

Who can see it though? It appears that a very extended network can view certain wall posts of mine with select words, even though I've limited all my wall posts to select friends.

This article explains how Community pages work. My posts with certain key words are posted in a semi-public community page. My guess is that those in my very extended network can see it: http://facebookiswatchingyou.blogspot.com/2010/04/what-you-s....

Who cares? No posts are being exposed to people who couldn't already see them.

Big woop. I've been doing this forever with the dragdropupload add-on. I do like the insert invitation feature though, and wish there was a better way to easily read through emails, archiving as I go, without being directed back to the inbox.

Yelp's doing a lot of us a favor by aggregating the conversation. Those conversations are happening elsewhere regardless. Is it all that different from what HN does?
