While I'd be interested in learning about AI and how to build/create/augment content using it, this was a poor article. It was really hard for me to understand the point of any of the paragraphs, other than using cheaper models is good.

Author: please write an article about this topic with examples of content you've created, discussions about dead ends and things that didn't work, and technical details about your setup.

That's the kind of article I'd love to read.

I think the article itself serves as enough evidence to prove you should ignore their advice.

A lot of these also apply not just to retirement, but to looking for a new job.

I work for FusionAuth.

We have lambdas (basically JavaScript code that can make API calls[0] and be managed and tested[1]) that execute at fixed points in the auth lifecycle:

- before a login is allowed

- before a token is created

- after a user returns from a federated login (SAML, OIDC, etc)

- before a user registers

And more[2].

And we're currently working on one for "before an MFA challenge is issued"[3].

There are some limitations[4]. We don't allow, for instance, loading of arbitrary JavaScript libraries.

Not sure if that meets all your needs, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Heya, I work for FusionAuth. We have a comparable product for many use cases.

Happy to chat (email in profile), or you can visit our comparison page[0] or detailed technical migration guide[1].

> data plans were expensive

Hard to overstate how expensive data was! This was also before widespread wifi.

If you want a look at the way the world worked in 2005, check this out: https://www.consumer-action.org/news/articles/2005_interstat...

- calling cards

- voip

- collect calls!

Wow, brings back memories!

I used j2me in the early 2000s to make a mobile app where people could find home data. My first startup experience. Learned a lot but didn't earn a lot.

Wrote a paper about MIDP here: https://www.mooreds.com/midp/midp.html . No idea if it is still relevant 20 years on.

I am glad it was helpful.

Thanks for the paper as well. It explains concepts very clearly with a real-life problem statement. Added it to Awesome J2ME.

Always always set up budget alarms.

Make sure they go to an list with multiple people on it. Make sure someone pays attention to that email list.

It's free and will save your bacon.

I've also had good luck asking for forgiveness. One time I scaled up some servers for an event and left them running for an extra week. I think the damage was in the 4 figures, so not horrendous, but not nothing.

An email to AWS support led to them forgiving a chunk of that bill. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Do co-CEOs usually work out well? Seems like you'd need some really really clear areas of responsibility, or small egos, or extensive experience working together. Preferably all three.

Or for one co-CEO to be there solely for optics / hype / media coverage.

> he actual incarnation of passkeys because they're designed to take control from the user.

How is a magic link request different from a forgot password request?

They both:

- are initiated by the end user

- grant account access

- are delivered via email (or text)

Or are you just as frustrated with account recovery/forgot password emails?
