Check out Firewalla if your interest roots in tinkering :)

Valve seems to be putting a lot of resources into this area for their Steam Frame

I think it's more revealing of how they've been playing the long game

I know there’s an XKCD comic about this

Just bring back spacebar heating

It falls under the category of "incremental games" that are generally simple but addicting due to the dopamine release from watching those numbers go up

For me, it causes headaches after a while due to the huge amount of animations running in parallel.

Yeah, that's on purpose. It's meant to overstimulate you quickly

I think in a lot of cases it's a means of monetizing an app where everything else is essentially free/full-featured without being behind a paywall

On the other hand, some companies really value design, or perhaps even find value out of good design :)

Good thesign has no value when a middle click doesn't paste my selection, ctrl+arrow doesn't go to the next word, and shift+tab doesn't move focus to the previous item.

Hello! I'm Luke, a frontend software engineer with ~6+ years of experience. My career spans companies of various sizes, from enterprise to startup, and varied industries including blockchain, automotive, and e-commerce. I geninunely enjoy what I do and am open to any opportunities where I can continue to learn, build, and share knowledge :)

Out of sheer curiosity, could you name this game?

Sure, it’s X-Plane 12. But this really is a problem for any software that is continuously being developed and that sees active releases. Any time the internal API or ABI breaks, chances are you break someone’s work with it.

Thanks for sharing, again - I was just curious. That's a fair statement indeed :)

Not necessarily like Canva, but more similar to Figma is Penpot, if it may interest you:

Penpot reminds me of this (pretty good in my opinion) article by fasterthanlime: https://fasterthanli.me/articles/just-paying-figma-15-dollar...

Sorry for the delayed response @kidfiji Nice suggestion! Thanks

Yes, this is so much cool

Agreed @flowzai, this looks like a good option.
