SEEKING FREELANCER - Software Engineer (Go/Golang), Technical Writer | REMOTE | GERMANY or VIETNAM (+/- 4 hours)

I am the Head of Engineering, DataJet, at Global Fashion Group, the leading fashion and lifestyle destination in growth markets. Our customer-facing brands are Dafiti, Lamoda, Zalora, and The Iconic. My department develops and maintains the search and recommendation engine that powers our four online ventures. I am interested in hiring one or two software engineers as freelancers who can support one of my backend teams. Our main language is Go/Golang. In addition, I am looking for a Technical Writer to help with documentation.

We can offer flexible work arrangements, i.e. min. 20h/week, for at least 6 months, but preferably longer. For the engineering roles you need to have experience in working with large code bases and familiarity with Go, AWS, and gRPC.

If this sounds interesting, please email me at gregor.ulm@global-fashion-group.com. Please include your CV and mention your daily rate as well as your availability (start date, hours/week, total duration). If you are applying for the technical writer role, then please include samples of your work.

The roles are for the DataJet department, which is responsible for developing and maintaining the search and recommendation engine of our four ventures. I am the author of this article. In it, I describe the process I set up in my team to reduce technical debt. For context, when you take over an existing team as an external hire, in particular a team that has not had a dedicated manager for a while, you often face an uphill battle. One of the problems I had to tackle was reducing the technical debt of a core engineering team at Zalando. The challenge was to establish a process without being granted a sufficient time budget for technical debt. I originally wrote up my approach for our intranet a couple of months after I set up the new process. Recently, I was offered the opportunity to revise this article for Zalando's public engineering blog. I think it is most relevant for engineering managers working at fast-moving companies.

Klarna Bank | Software Engineer (Haskell/Erlang/Scala/Clojure/Python/Java/JavaScript etc.), DevOps Engineer, Engineering Manager | Stockholm, Sweden; Berlin, Germany; Milan, Italy | VISA | Currently REMOTE / WFH, normally ON-SITE

Klarna Bank (www.klarna.com) is a dominant payment service provider in Europe, and expanding rapidly. We have 3000+ employees and are valued at $5.5bn, which makes us the largest private FinTech in Europe. We are backed by Sequoia, among others.

We are growing rapidly and are therefore looking for engineers. There are a lot of roles on our website (https://jobs.lever.co/klarna?lever-via=6jipXaWgC8&team=Engin...). Let me highlight a few that I think are most relevant for the HN crowd:

- Software Engineer - Functional Programming: Erlang, Haskell, Scala, or Clojure, depending on the team

- Software Engineer - Python

- Software Engineer - Java

- Software Engineer - JavaScript

- DevOps Engineer

- Engineering Manager

There are also roles in Front-End/UX/Mobile (iOS & Android)/Design etc. The job specs on our website normally describe profiles rather than roles, so sometimes they don't give an adequate depiction of the work you'll be doing. Some of it can be very exciting. For instance, I work on a mission-critical distributed cloud application that processes over one million transactions per day. The available jobs vary, of course, but if you're at all curious about what we do, I can only encourage you to apply.

Currently, we're fully remote and are onboarding people from all over the world. Otherwise, our main engineering offices are in Berlin, Stockholm, and Milan. We sponsor visas and provide relocation assistance.

hi, I am interesting for Software Engineer - Python, I'm from Indonesia and working remotely by WFH, is it okay to apply?

Of course you can apply. You'll need to discuss working remotely in your first call with one of our recruiters, though.

Hi, Is the remote option globally?

We currently work remotely. I do not know how long this will last. However, hiring and onboarding are continuing as usual, with the key difference that this is all done remotely as well. Right now, the procedure is that we send new hires their equipment. I'd recommend that you discuss this in your initial call with our internal recruiters as they know a lot more about those details than I do.

Thank you.

i am interested for javascript developer

hi @amangrw077, this role looks interesting.

This is an MS-Paint app I wrote in pure javascript. http://adamkulidjian.com/pixel-paint.html

Then submit an application! I wish you good luck.

would you hire fully remotely?

You'll have to discuss this with our internal recruiters after submitting an application. When I joined, it was not an option, but that was before Covid-19 and our switch to WFH.

The bind operator (>>=) is commonly expressed in 'do' notation. The following two code snippets are equivalent:

do x <- foo; y <- bar; baz x y

foo >>= \x -> bar >>= \y -> baz x y
