They are getting paid an average of 42 hoursba week. The vast majority of people I know (especially in tech) are actually working less hours than this.

I've been approached by a few companies to train their models to basically replace me. Why would I want to do this?

This could happen with anything when someone has a mental illness. Should anything triggering also get banned?

People think Trump is a 'fascist'? If the US loses as a global power, they see the true meaning of the word.

Autism is over diagnosed, because you get government money as a doctor and a patient.

My niece has a disibility that they haven't really been able to diagnose.

If it is Autism, there is all kinds of free care available.

Usually when you follow the money, you get answers.

Almost every forum is heavily moderated on the Internet, pushing it to look like everyone supports the same thing.

/Antiwork on Reddit, for instance, bans anyone that supports Capitalism. Is it any surprise that you only see a hatred for all businesses and communist ideas promoted there?

This is why we are seeing more violence and radical behavior.

I demand to be able to share porn on HackerNews. Moderators who delete my content are censoring me and contributing to the increase in violence and radical behavior! This is the America and here we have the Freedom Of Speech! That means I can post whatever I want wherever I want and anyone who censors me is stealing my freedoms and increasing radicalization!

I suppose you are fine with the religious right deciding what books kids should learn in school? You would be the first person to complain about it. How about we ban anyone that says something negative about president Trump?

Squashing any opposing political views is dangerous in a country that claims to to have Democratic elections and freedoms. It amounts to election interference on a massive scale.

To be honest, I see so many people that have your attitude, I have no issue with someone in power censoring any opposing views to the government, just so you get a taste of your own medicine.

Nope. My position is entirely consistent. Platforms don't have to host content they do not agree with. Any more weak ass "gotcha" questions up your sleeve?

Sure, r/antiwork is that way, keeps it on topic, doesn't it?

What do you propose to keep topical forums on topic? There's plenty of forums where pure capitalist sentiment is allowed or encouraged.

"What do you propose to keep topical forums on topic? There's plenty of forums where pure capitalist sentiment is allowed or encouraged."

/r/antiwork is just an example. Much more general forums are moderated, without the average user knowing the difference. The end result is election interference (like when Google de-platforms and removes search results for candidates it doesn't like) and big tech shaping politics and general opinions, on a massive scale.

Until this practice stops, I have no problem banning Fact checkers and content moderators from the country.

My dear sir that's simply not responsive! The metaphorical rubble of thousands of Usenet newsgroups refute your point. Without moderation, topical forums get over run, if not by soyjaks, then by penis pill advertisers.

You can most certainly find a forum devoted to whatever topic you desire to discuss, but you can't discuss whatever you desire in a forum devoted to a specific topic. This isn't censorship, and you are using whataboutism to justify not only your own prejudices, but also a national policy of prejudice that appeals only to one particular political faction.

Once they start integrating paid results, it will be the next Google. To the average person, AI will be a smarter search engine, which is why there is a race to be first (and Google is scared).

It's already starting to be used in many tech-based roles, like software development and marketing. It's not perfect, but I've saved hours using some form of AI in my current role.

Tech companies already shape elections by intentionally targeting campain ads and political information returned in heavily biased search results.

Why are we worried about this now? Because it could sway people in the direction you don't like?

I find that the tech community and most people in general deny or don't care about these sorts of things when it's out of self interest, but are suddenly rights advocates when someone they don't like might is using the same tactics.

Advertising for politics is absurd. The fact that countries allow this is incredibly dangerous.

I think it's mostly tariffs and the uncertain economy of 2026.

"Forcing people into working conditions in which they are uncomfortable is only going to harbour resentment towards the company and if you are in a country where workers actually have real rights you will have a hard time firing them."

They are forcing them back into the office, which was pretty much the norm pre-covid. Having hard to fire employees isn't a good thing for the company or the well-being of other employees, when dealing with a bad employee.

If you want to work from home forever, contract with a company, and put it in your contract. This is what I've done for over a decade now.

Being a one person company with one client is circumventing employment laws. Sensibly illegal in many countries.

Who says I only have one client? It's also one of the reasons that it's so difficult to actually start a company in many of these countries, and the economic landscape consists of large multi-national corporations and the government.

It's also not illegal (at least in the US), if you have your own LLC/company.

This kind of thinking is why I've had steady work while working remotely for many years and we see articles like this crying about companies taking away remote work.
