I think Mac OS window handling has become worse over the past years. But I don’t care for MS Windows style either (in fact I dislike it more). Do you happen to have a mode which more closely resembles the classic spatial Finder of yesteryear?

That’s just what Big Bird wants you to believe. I on the other hand get my bullshit directly from the horse’s mouth.

I thought he wanted me to believe in myself!

also, unrelated, but did you know big bird could've died in the challenger explosion?

People often seem to ignore that Availability is part of the security triad.

If I burn someone’s wallet and throw the ashes to the wind nobody can pickpocket them for it. Secure.

Can’t speak for large scale sites with abundant volcanic activity… But for residential geothermal the bore hole has a lifetime based on how much ground water there is and how active usage it sees.

This is because using it cools the hole slowly and after a few decades (depending on how quickly ground water can dissipate heat gradient) a new hole need to be drilled a distance away.

Can we cycle the holes? Use one while the other one is warming back up.

There are some modern heat pumps which can put heat energy back into the hole during the warmer season when the pump acts as a (cooler). For my own Daikin pump this would be possible if I had a different flooring than wood.

"Unfortunately" I choose wooden flooring on my heated floors. Cooling this means that the I risk condensation due to moisture build-up and therefore a long-term risk of mould. But I have only need of cooling 1-2 months of the year, so it is not a big deal, I can solve it by clever use of insulation instead.

But for those able to use a geothermal pump like this it also has the short-term benefit of increasing the effectiveness of the hole as well.

Did the underlying bits (hex/oct/… or whatever representation) actually change or just the visuals?

Maybe.

But there is already a known pattern on how to handle this which I was taught (before the original iPhone even) in university CS studies:

If the manner of entering credentials has to change,

Then on first entry, offer the old method,

And, because you now (temporarily) have the plaintext credentials, you can now inspect it and test if anything need to change for the future,

And then set a flag, or require user action , or just re-encode, to use the new method as inspection determines.

It is also worth noting that in these countries it is significantly less hassle and lower monetary costs to get an ID card than in the USA.

This is effectively happening, not in the way you frame it, but companies has effectively moved to rely solely on the rich:

> The top 10% of American households in terms of income earned are driving nearly half of all U.S. consumer spending.

Ouch. That's a pattern in the developing world.

Yes, but this is in effect since 2023:

> Proposed new law could see Swedish media prosecuted for espionage

> Swedish media outlets who uncover news which damages Sweden's relations abroad could be charged with spying, if a controversial law gets the go-ahead.

Note: de jure, not de facto.

I'm pretty sure most news outlets would cave with the right pressure, with or without any new laws. On top of that is the fact that the department for foreign affairs is the department where the line between ministry and department is the thinest* - I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if, in such a scenario they'd be asked, especially by the US, to put a stop to something, they'd actually put (unofficial, undocumented) pressure on the entity or person in question.

* As opposed to most democracies ministerial rule is highly frowned upon in Sweden, and as a minister you can't issue official decrees that govern how the department itself interpret laws or conduct its business. Instead you (e.g. the parliament) change laws and society act accordingly.

It always is until it is too late.

I turn off my refrigerator light after I close the door by reaching in and pushing the button. Don’t you?
