I wish I could up vote your comment more than once for picking up on that reference :) I'm from Vermont so that movie was a right of passage during my younger, hockey-playing years.
I hear ya... I have no idea what happened in the last 4 months of 2006 and the first 6 months of 2007. My second son was born in August 2006 and he cried if he was awake until he was 8 months old.
My most recent life goal is to learn how to shave with a straight razor... Don't ask me why, just seems like a cool skill to learn and someday pass down to my sons.
I expressed interest in same. My wife bought me a nice introductory model (german-made) but the pressure required (and angle of attack at my throat!!!) to get any hairs cut scares the dickens out of me. Now it is slowly rusting in my bathroom...
The reason everyone and their half brother gets one is because these directories sell the ads based on their "circulation".
The more people they can claim to get the book, the higher rate they can charge for advertising.
So as far as the Yellow Pages are concerned, they held up their end of the deal with their advertisers. Whether you read it or not wasn't part of the deal.
A lot of these directories also offer a "combo" where you get advertising in the print edition and on a web site in order to bridge the 20th century and the 21st.
So until companies stop spending their advertising dollars to be in the 'pages it will be some time before you stop receiving it.
