Let's put aside the argument of whether the role women play as familial caretakers is "genetically wired" or encouraged by cultural norms. There is undeniably a huge genetic difference between men and women that leads to all sorts of different outcomes in health, athletics, etc. That IS the perfectly reasonable and logical reasonable to discriminate on the basis of sex, which we do all the time.
Gold, based on its practical uses, should have a much lower value as well--but naysayers have been proven wrong since time immemorial. I think the market will continue to stay irrational much longer than we will be alive.
Well not only would banks be far less profitable, but the entire modern economy would grind to halt. I think that's the real problem with 100% reserve banking--it's disingenuous to cast it as less profit for banks.
So..what the TPP was supposed to accomplish? At least before Trump's bumbling decision to withdraw to score rhetorical points with his base. Pretty sure think tanks are several moves ahead of Trump, if he even plans out his moves at all.
Another commenter included a source: https://www.precisionvaccinations.com/waldorf-association-sc.... The article gives the rate of non-medical exemptions (for immunizations) for some Waldorf schools, but doesn't give the state average for NMEs (which, as an aside, seems to have been legislated away in California recently). Nevertheless, the numbers are over 50% which seem staggeringly high for an exemption rate. It's also not surprising that a school that embraces technological asceticism has its share of parents who embrace the anti-vax movement.
What? It's far more practical to reteach his wife the language she lost, which also happens to be his first language AND the primary language of the country they live it.
Most actions disproportionately affect the poor and middle class--that doesn't mean we shouldn't take them. Although it doesn't always work out in practice, ideally, other wealth redistribution policies should blunt the impact of said actions. That said, $300m is not very much, so it seems largely like a symbolic gesture.
Ethics aside, octopuses also seem like a great candidate for "domestication" a la the Russian domestication of the silver fox. Except rather than select for the most docile offspring, selecting for the cleverest. With their relatively short lifespans, one could probably achieve some success in a relatively short amount of time.
Corporations are more multicellular organisms than cancer. They are capable of achieving far more than a single cell or person, for better or for worse.
