thanks for the feedback! I'm actually getting the location data from google itself.
I like the facebook integration idea, and was thinking of doing something with their checkin feature? Don't they have something that lets you say: "I'm here!"?
Yeah, I don't know why it doesn't work. I use the location and region to give results instead of something country specific like zipcode. I guess if google local doesn't have anything in that area it kind of ruins it. :(
Currently it takes nearly 30% of my income just to afford the physical shelter. Then pretty much the rest for basic necessities. Not to mention the time it takes to maintain all of this stuff. Pay bills, car maintenance, home maintenance, clothing, grocery shopping. I feel like just living takes up so much of my time.
I'm not limiting ideas to investing in an traditional since. I was thinking more along the lines of, I have 10k, how can I best leverage that 10k to make more money. For example:
I have some programming skills, so i make an iphone app spend 5k on development tools and then another 5k on advertising. Selling my app for $10 and trying to make 10,000 sales. I think 1-2 years is a reasonable timeframe for this. To me this is what business is all about. Finding a way to take a small amount of money, applying your skills and turning it into a larger sum.
Buy a lawn mower and an old truck for under a grand. Go around your neighborhood and offer to mow lawns for $50 1 time per month or more. Stop once you have 33 customers. Mow lawns everyday for 6 months.
50x33=1650x6=9,900. minimum. Hire help at $25 a lawn to scale.
Don't forget to factor in the cost of fuel for the truck and the lawn mower, as well as maintenance and any government fees. Otherwise, I like your plan.
We use it where I work for access control. We define groups in ActiveDirectory(LDAP) which are then specified for each subversion repository. It works fairly well for this except there is no fine control. You can only specify access or no access, not read only or something like that.
Self-directed play is simply kids playing on their own terms, making up games with their own rules, making up their own characters etc. You know.. being a Kid and playing with your imagination.
This game is great, but you really have to read the documentation, otherwise it's pretty much impossible. I found that the more games I lost the more I learned for the next game which made it just that much more fun. Learning new things also had the side effect of causing my games to run longer, so.. be careful :)
